(Ursprünglich als [Portfolioclub-German] E-Book "The story behind the creation of the Atari Portfolio")

Nachdem Gerhard Stoll das Büchlein vor ein paar Tagen erwähnt hatte ([Portfolioclub-German] Portfolio mit größerem Bildschirm), habe ich es mir inzwischen bei Amazon geholt. Gelesen habe ich es online im Browser mit Amazons Cloud Reader, da ich keinen Kindle besitze.

Inhaltlich kann ich das Buch auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Es bietet eine Mischung aus u. a. Biografien der Beteiligten, Zusammenarbeit mit Atari und Sharp (für den PC-3000), Beschreibungen der Arbeitsabläufe, benutztes Equipment (Hardware & Software) sowie in Anhang C Details zu den durch UPDATE.COM behobenen Fehlern.

Eine gewisse Redundanz bei einigen Themen ist vorhanden, aber ich finde das nicht weiter schlimm. Insgesamt sind es sechs Kapitel plus die Anhänge A-E. Die Länge der Kapitel/Anhänge variiert stark.

Für einen Pofo-Fan bei gerade mal 2,92 Euro für 119 Seiten auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Wer ist "x86vet"?

Der Autor des Buches nennt sich selbst nur „x86vet“, was für „(Intel)-x86-Veteran“ stehen könnte.

Im Beitrag Re: The story behind the creation of the Atari Portfolio schreibt er: „I developed the BIOS and DOS.“
Im Thread Re: Hardware 6502 In-Circuit-Emulator beendet er einige Beiträge mit „David“.

Zusammen mit den Infos aus dem Buch lässt sich schlussfolgern, dass es sich bei „x86vet“ um David Mackay handeln müsste.
